Artist's Comments

I sat on a close bench and watched this guy play his harmonica for a few minutes.

I got up and put a few coins in his container, I pulled out my camera and he instantly said "Go for it man, take as many pictures as you want."
He had a big sign with the name Tex on it, so I shook his hand and gave him mine.

"You know, I've been photographed all around the world in my travels. A few years back when I was in Perth, I'd busk here in the same spot every day, and I'd see this cute little Japanese girl taking photo's of me every day."

He pointed to all the different places and angles she'd photographed him from.

"Then one day, I was just playing my harmonica here, when she came up to me with this big file, she couldn't speak much English, but it was a mutual connection 'cause I can't speak much Japanese."

He laughed for a moment and continued.

"So she gave me the file, and when I opened it, it was full of all the photo's she'd taken of me, it was an amazing feeling, and to make it better she ended up winning some big award for the course she was studying over here!."

He asked me if I played an instrument and I told him the drums.

"That's great to hear, music is good for you, for your soul. I can play lots of different instruments; The Harmonica, Drums, Tuba, Sax, Clarinet and a little bit of guitar...besides that, I'm pretty much useless."

We both shared a laugh and I told him to get back into it. I took my photo and smiled him a goodbye.

He seems nice. This guy is very aware of the world, I think. Kind of reminds me of my grandpa, who plays the harmonica. :)
